A top choice for those who like their sandwich onions a little less sweet and with a little more kick. Produces large, flattened, 3-4 in. globes that are great on hamburgers, salads and sandwiches. Stores for 4-6 weeks. This is a short-day onion, it begins forming bulbs when daylight lasts 10-12 hours.  Because summer daylight hours are shorter in the South, short-day onions are most often grown in the South. Red Burgundy Onion grows best in zones 8-9.  Resistant to botrytis and pink root.
